Day 5: Heeeeeeeey Mondarin (A Day in The Hague)

Another early morning today as we had a 9:30 bus to The Hague. After arriving, we stored our bags and went to explore the city. Everything in this city was covered in Mondarin!! I think they're celebrating some sort of anniversary! It was crazy....fences, whole sides of buildings, shop windows! Look for a collage on Michael's Instagram eventually! 

We spent the morning hitting 4 museums all of which were really fantastic! By the fourth one we were pretty exhausted, but I'm glad we did them all! First up was the Mauritshuis Museum, home of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. Great stuff! I also liked this one:

Then, it was time for the Escher museum which is housed in a palace! 

Such a big collection and they even had some great interactive stuff on the top floor. The chandeliers in this place were crazy! 

We stopped for a quick lunch at the English Pub, The Fiddler. We had a little pizza and enjoyed sitting outside overlooking a beautiful church. 

Then, back to the museums! We went to this crazy place with a huge panoramic painting. It was quite immersive. You stand in this big 

circular room and the painting surrounds you. Never seen anything like it!! They also had a cool special photography exhibit of people sleeping on the beach. It was great too! 

Then it was time for the Gemeentemuseum. This is home to the largest collection of Mondarins. So amazing to see his other work. Who knew he did all these landscapes as well as the great modern art I love him for. They also had a fashion exhibit about clothes inspired by his work. Great! 

Now it was time to go check in to our fancy beach hotel. We walked on the beach and had some snacks at Zanzibar, a cheesy restaurant on the beach. Seeing the beach was wonderful even though it was cloudy and a bit chilly. 

We finished the night by heading back into the city and having a few more Dutch brews. Here are some other great pics of The Hague:
