Portugal Day 4: Lisbon Diaries: From Belem Tower to Tapas – Settling into Our Riverside Apartment

The following morning, Alison and Michael were up bright and early, excited to explore the new apartment’s riverside location in the neighborhood of Cais do Sodré. They checked it out and the location looked great. On their way back to the Airbnb, they made a pit stop at Copenhagen Coffee Lab, picking up some breakfast snacks to share while we all finalized our packing for the move to the apartment later in the day.

After packing, our first destination was the historic Belem area, where we began with a visit to the iconic Belem Tower. Linda couldn't resist the temptation of a street vendor's purse, adding it to her ever-growing collection. After that, our next stop was the Berardo Collection Museum, an oasis of contemporary art that provided a welcome break from the heat.

Returning to the Airbnb, we gathered our bags and transferred everything to their new apartment. This new accommodation was a delight - equipped with an elevator, ensuring no tiresome stair climbs, and boasting exceptional amenities and view of Lisbon’s famed Christ the King statue!

After settling in, we headed to the bustling Time Out Market, conveniently situated next door. Despite the crowds, we enjoyed a satisfying lunch. Michael and Linda indulged in phenomenal burgers, while Alison savored an assortment of croquettes with a variety of fillings.

With full stomachs, Alison opted for some downtime at the apartment, so Michael and Linda explored a nearby local brewery. The beer was quite good. Later, we reunited for a delightful tapas dinner at Tapa Bucho. The night held another treat as we descended a seemingly endless flight of steps to reach a local Ginjinha spot. Here, we sampled the renowned Portuguese liqueur Ginja, served in chocolate shot glasses.

Afterwards, we retreated to the apartment to rest up for the next day’s adventure in Sintra!
