To the Islands!

We had an early 5:00AM alarm on Tuesday so we could catch the bus for our next adventure. We left our Airbnb at 5:30 and decided to head over to the Metro station about 8 minutes walk away. We thought this would be the best option because we figured it wouldn't be very crowded and it might be hard to get a taxi that early in the AM. False! Apparently people were still out partying from the night before, so there were taxis everywhere AND the train was super crowded! Thankfully, we only had to ride it two stops and then take a short walk to our bus stop. We even had time to grab some chocolate croissants for breakfast on the road (thanks, Michael)! We used JetaTours to book this bus/ferry combo to ensure we wouldn't miss our ferry. So, we took a charter bus with them from Athens to Agios Konstantinos that took about 2 hours. Then, we hopped on a 4 hour ferry that got us to Skaithos around 1PM. We got off the ferry and headed straight to get some lunch at No Name Gyros-a quick fast food place with lots of yummy greek food (gyros, souvlaki, and chicken skewers).

Then, it was time to check into our hotel (Kallisti Apartments). It's a small hotel and our room has a double bed and a twin bed, a fridge, couch, table, and nice bathroom. Good for two nights. OH and a great balcony for people watching. :)

After we got settled, Anna and I changed and headed out for beach time!! We took the city bus to stop #20 to check out Troulos Beach. It was perfect! We grabbed a couple of sunbeds (it wasn't clear how to pay for them and no one ever came to ask us for money). The water was beautiful, clear, so blue, and had hardly any waves. AND super cold! Perfect spot for some sun time, water time, and reading. We had a nice 3ish hour stay there. Then rode the (crowded) city bus back to town.

Michael spent that time taking a nap, exploring the city a bit, and trying to make plans for our Mamma Mia! tour the next day. More on this later.

Once we all got cleaned up, we headed to the nearby beach for dinner. The first place we wanted to go to didn't have any tables available, so we picked a place a couple doors down called Siferi and we really enjoyed it! Anna got chicken nuggets and fries and Mike and I shared two Greek dishes: moussaka (Greek lasagna?) and lamb kleftiko. The setting was beautiful as the moon came up and reflected on the water. Loving all the outdoor dining here!

After dinner we got our evening gelato (at a place called Alaska) and did some shopping. The city really comes alive after 8PM so it was much busier after dinner than it had been earlier in the day! Then, sleep time!
